Barbara Evans clearly failed when it came to raising Jenelle Evans.
We're not saying the former is entirely to blame for the latter having experienced drug problems, legal issues and now an ongoing custody battle during her 27 years of existence.
But come on.
Barbara likely could have done a better job as a mother.
Now, however, after earning the wrath of Teen Mom viewers for many years, Barbara is finally receiving a wee bit of praise as a grandmother.
The part-time MTV player has been forced into playing a prominent role in the lives of Jenelle's kids following a turbulent series of events.
After they were taken out of her North Carolina home a couple weeks ago, their entire lives were turned upside down.
This dramatic development took place after David Eason shot and killed his family's dog, leaving authorities with little choice for to take little Ensley and Kaiser out of Jenelle and David's hands.
Jenelle and David are in the process of trying to legally win back custody of Jenelle's children, along with David's daughter from a previous relationship.
Until they succeed, however, Barbara has impressively stepped up as primary caregiver.
She was already living full-time with nine-year old Jace and she now has two-year old Ensley under her roof as well.
(Kaiser, Jenelle's four-year old son with ex Nathan Griffith, is living with his other grandmother at the moment.)
After Barbara shared some photos of Ensley out and about having fun, followers gave Barbara some props for ensuring these kids were being well taken care of.
"They should make a show about you stepping up for those beautiful children," one person wrote to Barbara.
Another fan added:
"Way to step up for your granddaughter when she really needed it...just like you did for Jace. Wow first pic of Ensley having fun."
"Hopefully she can be raised with you and her big brother."
For many seasoned fans of Teen Mom, of course, all viewers witnessed were seriously intense fights between Barbara and Jenelle.
Mother certainly came across as overbearing and exceedingly strict when it came to raising her daughter -- but can you really blame her?
Think of all she had to put up with via Jenelle.
There was a time when Jenelle was strongly against Barbara raising Jace under her roof, but it's pretty clear at this point that the arrangement has worked out well.
Public and private sentiment has all turned in favor of Barbara.
And for good reason.
Child protective services stepped in earlier this month after Eason admitted to killing the family's French Bulldog, claiming it had nipped at Ensley.
He didn't seem very broken up about it, either.
“I don’t give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face," Eason wrote on Instagram after his murder, adding:
"Whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I don’t put up with that sh-t at all. I’m all about protecting my family, it is my life’s mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me.
"You can hate me all you want but this isn’t the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively.
"The only person that can judge whether or not an animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME.”
We suppose that's technically true.
But legally? CPS has pretty much determined that Eason is the main danger to his child and the organization has acted accordingly.
