It looks like Jenelle Evans’ dream is about to come true at last, according to a new sneak preview clip from the upcoming Teen Mom 2 season finale:
She's getting legal custody of her five-year-old son, Jace!
“I don’t think we have to go back to court, there’s no sense of that. I can just sign off on it,” says her mother Barbara, who has long been Jace’s guardian.
Did she, though? Did that actually happen at any point?
Barbara has cared for the young child ever since Jenelle gave birth and turned to a life of drugs, drinking and deadbeat men shortly thereafter.
Now that she's finally getting her life together, we see Jenelle and Nathan Griffith discuss regaining custody in a clip from Teen Mom 2 Season 5 Episode 25.
The mother and daughter, whose blowout fights are one of the best reasons to watch Teen Mom 2, or watch TV online period, actually seem to agree, too.
“So basically, you’ll let me have Jace in a couple of months?” Jenelle asks.
“We can transition him over a year back to you,” her mother responds.
The normally hot-headed Barbara then begins to cry about how Jenelle, who recently gave birth to another son, Kaiser, has turned things around.
“The whole bottom line to this is Jenelle you are grown up,” Babs says.
“Finally, I can see it now ... we’re going to work on this as a plan.”
Will this plan eventually take hold? If so, it won't be without tears.
Barbara says she'd miss Jace “terribly,” but “he’s not my child. He’s my grandson. It'll break my heart to have him feel like I abandoned him or threw him away.”
Jenelle Evans assures her mom that this is not the case, at all.
“I can’t believe we finally came this far. So now everything is good," Barbara cries, admitting in typically blunt fashion, “I thought you’d be dead.
Despite fighting with Nathan and causing controversy by smoking while breastfeeding Kaiser, Jenelle has indeed come a long way in the past year.
Still, despite the apparent inevitability of her regaining custody if you were to take this clip at face value, there has been no legal action taken.
Will Barbara go through with it? Does Jenelle Evans have it together enough to handle a second child at home? What about Nathan's role in all this?
