Jenelle Evans insists fiance Nathan Griffith paid for her engagement ring, despite his jobless past and even though MTV was on hand to film the proposal.
As fans and haters alike are well aware, thanks to her 'round-the-clock Instagram updates, Jenelle Evans and Nathan Griffith got engaged last week.
But, being Jenelle fans and haters, they are also skeptical.
Many were quick to accuse the star of having MTV foot the bill for not only her new ring, but also for her recent vacation with her fiance and baby daddy.
Not the case, though. According to a production source:
“They won’t pay for anything like that. If someone goes out to dinner and it’s on-camera," then possibly "MTV will pay the bill, up to a certain amount."
"They’ll pay for activities on camera. So maybe the dinner bill was picked up. But anyone that thinks MTV would pay for an engagement ring is wrong.”
Regardless of who paid for what, Jenelle and Nathan are on cloud nine, and she has now revealed more details of what went down that night.
“We went to a fancy restaurant, and we were just going out to have a nice dinner,” Evans, the star of the network's Teen Mom 2, said of the big night.
Once they finished eating, Griffith "just tapped his glass, stood up in front of the whole restaurant, and made this big speech,” the mother of two explained.
“How he loves me, he wants to be with me for the rest of his life. And he’s really happy. And then he got down on one knee and proposed in front of everyone.”
Wow!
“I was completely shocked,” Evans said. “I think I had an idea he would probably propose to me, but I didn’t know when during the week he was gonna do it."
"And I didn’t know what was gonna happen or anything. So it was like expected, but unexpected. He did a perfect job,” she said. “We went looking for a month."
"Then he went looking for four months, because he was indecisive. He showed all of his friends. He showed everyone the ring, but would never let me see it.”

A bit of a mess. Ditto Nathan, who welcomed son Kaiser with Evans in June but is also the parent of a daughter, Emery, he does not have custody of.
Evans was previously engaged to ex Gary Head in 2012, later filing assault charges against him, and married to Courtland Rogers for 26 days.
Congratulations on the engagement for Jenelle and Nathan, who have been together for two years and look to be on pretty stable footing actually!
