Simmering tension between Leah Messer and Jeremy Calvert reached critical mass on Teen Mom 2 Season 6 Episode 6, and they were not alone.
For Leah and Jeremy, it was a breakup a long time in the making.
If you watch Teen Mom 2 online, or read any celebrity news, you know the two have split up after they had been heading down that road for awhile.
Now we got to see the events play out on MTV, and it was sad.
First, a fight broke out over her spending habits. "You’re blowing through money like f--king water," Jeremy told her. "Don’t start s--t with me, Leah.”
“My God, what is wrong with you?” Leah cried, with incredulity.
“I’m filing for divorce,” he said. “I’m not f--king around this time.”
At first, Leah didn’t seem concerned by what she felt was an empty threat, but based on what we know, it's hard to imagine she wasn't in denial.
“The house looks like a homeless shelter,” he told a friend.
“All hell broke loose when I got my own account. She takes prescription medicine for her anxiety. I don’t know if that s--t’s f--king with her or not."
"It’s obvious she has some addiction issue."
"I don’t know if she would intentionally put the kids in harms way, but as far as not paying attention or not thinking clearly, [something is] happening."
"The girl I fell in love with ain’t the girl I got now.”
Leah, meanwhile, told her mom, ”It feels like he regrets getting married, he regrets having a kid, he regrets marrying a woman with two kids."
"You can’t force somebody to stay with you. And I don’t even care that it’s two divorces under my belt because if he don’t love me he don’t love me."
"But it would f--king break my heart.”
When the estranged couple finally face to face in a parking lot after a two-week separation, it was clear there was probably no going back.
“I just want you to get help,” Jeremy told her, echoing a familiar refrain we've heard from Corey Simms over the past few episodes.
“You can’t love me if you don’t love yourself.”
Meanwhile, in North Carolina, things came to a head between Jenelle Evans Nathan Griffith, who he suspected might be cheating on him.
Perhaps he saw Jenelle Evans' Tinder?
In any case, in an alcohol-fueled rage, he screamed, “You’re f--king trailer trash who won the lottery,” thinking quite highly of himself, or maybe MTV?
Despite their issues, she wanted it to work.
“If we do break up, it’s like, I have two babies from two different baby daddies,” Evans told her friend. “How would I find a guy that would even accept me?"
"I would be a burden to them."
Nathan then proceeded to tell Jenelle he was going to Atlanta for work, yet offering no details, which she found shady ... and maybe for good reason.
He texted her that he was at his Atlanta hotel ... then walked in the door moments later, grinning from ear to ear about something. It was a tad strange.
Asked how the trip was by his baby mama, Nathan just let loose, saying, “It was the best two days of my entire life because there was no yelling.”
“I don’t want to be with you, Jenelle,” he informed her. “You are a sociopath! You are a psycho. I just wish you would give me my ring back.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll take it off before I go out tonight,” Jenelle said, and while they get back together all the time, it looks like it's over for good.
Or at least the next 24 hours.
Over in South Dakota, Chelsea Houska and Taylor Halbur's plan to team up against Adam Lind hit a snag when he reached out to Taylor privately.
Chelsea and Taylor decided to meet up so their two daughters could bond, and so that Houska could get to the bottom of Halbur's custody case.
“It was one of those things where I heard him out and told him I’d think about it,” Taylor told her vaguely. “I never gave an actual for sure answer.”
Chelsea’s custody case seemed to be taking a turn in Adam’s favor, despite his checkered past - at least as far as he's telling his friends.
“Seeing that me and Taylor are perfectly fine, the judge isn’t going to give me less of what I have now because they’re sisters,” Adam said.
“He’s not going to want to split sisters apart. There’s no way I’m going to walk out of that courtroom without custody. It just isn’t going to happen.”
We'll see about that.
Finally, Kailyn Lowry had her hands full, fighting to save her marriage to Javi Marroquin and dealing with her baby daddy, Jo Rivera, moving closer.
“The bright side is Isaac not being in a car for six hours," Kailyn told Jo, who wants to be closer to his son Isaac. "But we don't need to be neighbors."
Amazingly, Jo is the least of her issues these days. Javi and his jealous temper are a real issue, as we saw on Teen Mom Season 6 Episode 5.
“You like to be very needy while I’m gone,” Kailyn told her current husband. “I feel like every time I try to do something, you ruin my time."
"I need to give you time and attention that you need, but you also don’t need to be ruining trips and affecting my friendships with people.”
Case in point? Javi said he didn't want Kailyn’s friend Sterling on her latest trip. Cue Kail losing her s--t again, and all hell breaking loose.
A scary fight got scarier when Javi drove over a piece of debris - they were yelling in the car - and had to pull over. This was sobering.
His sister encouraged her to work on himself, and his marriage, for the good of the kids. He seemed to take this message to heart.
“I need to fix the things that I have done wrong and then we can help each other grow instead of tearing each other apart,” Javi told her.
“I really do want to change and want to take a step back. I do apologize and I do want to work on myself because I want to make this work.”
Stay tuned.
